SINO AUSTRALIAN FRIENDSHIP GARDEN, ZHANJIANG, GUANGDONG, CHINA

The Zhanjiang Cairns Friendship Park is an initiative of the Zhanjiang Government to celebrate the growing friendship associations between the city of Zhanjiang in tropical southern China and the city of Cairns in tropical northern Australia. The park is also part of the overall civic improvements underway in Zhanjiang and is built in association with the construction of the new Zhanjinag Bay Bridge, one of the world’s largest bridges.

The Friendship Park was designed through Garden City Design Co., a collaboration between Andrew Prowse & horticulturist Kim Morris. 37 hectare in size it is a major regional recreation park on the bay side.

The design merges design characteristics & vegetation of both places. Over 200 different species at northern Australian plants where exported by Garden City Design Co, on behalf of the Cairns City Council as civic gifts.
